Catherine (Cathy) Boyce, age 80, of 617 Nickolas Drive, Lebanon, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 14, 2023, following a lengthy illness.
She is preceded in death by her father, Allison Albert Van Wormer, her mother, Mary Frances Catherine Van Wormer, her brother Allan Van Wormer, and her brother-in-law, Jack Hasenmyer.
She is survived by her Husband Robert (Bob) Boyce, her son Jay (Robin) Stetzel, her daughters Laura (Lisa Mygrant) Stetzel, and Gina (Jeff) Lannom, her sister Suz Hasenmyer (Robert) Weldy, and her sister-in-law, Navi Van Wormer (Joe) Vernon. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Toni (Wesley) Collier, Traci (Tyler) Mason, and Ali (Eric) Kreitz, 2 great-grandsons, Tristan Collier and Colton Mason, numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces/nephews, and special friend Sandy Harbrecht.
Cathy was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and received her high school diploma from Huntington High School in the same state. Through a great deal of training and study, she became an operating room technician at Huntington Memorial Hospital.
She married Robert (Bob) Boyce on March 16, 1973, and celebrated 50 years of marriage this year. Cathy and Bob moved to Tennessee in 1983, to help open Pro Bowl West Bowling Center in Lebanon. Cathy later returned to the medical field working primarily as a private scrub nurse for Dr. Stephen Neely, a prominent orthopedic surgeon in Lebanon, TN. She retired after years of faithful service.
Cathy loved her family deeply and enjoyed spending time with them. One of her favorite traditions was hosting breakfast for the whole family every Christmas morning. Cathy would also add that she loved her little dog Bella who was a great deal of company and comfort to her during the last several years. All of the children and grandchildren would add that Bella was more spoiled than any of them!
Over the years, Cathy and Bob enjoyed traveling and playing cards with a number of very dear friends. Most recently, Cathy took great pleasure in being on the water and visiting a special lake house in Alabama with friends Mike and Brenda Mohlere. Cathy and Bob attended church at the Grace Place Church in Hermitage, TN where they worshiped with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held for Cathy Boyce at the Grace Place Church of God at 4316 Central Pike, Hermitage, TN on October 28, 2023. Visitation will be a 12:00 P.M. with the service to follow at 1:00 P.M. The service will be officiated by Pastor Jon Green with Pastors Owen Snyder and Dennis Cole assisting.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mexico mission fund of the Grace Place Church of God.
