Beginning Tuesday, Aug. 11, TDOT will temporarily reduce the speed limit on Interstate 40 through the City of Lebanon from 70 mph to 60 mph. The change will remain in place during the Tennessee State Fair, which runs Aug. 13-22.

To help keep traffic moving, TDOT will also add an extra HELP Truck and a Rural Service Patrol vehicle each afternoon to respond to crashes, disabled vehicles and other traffic incidents along the interstate.

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings during the fair, TDOT crews will temporarily extend the westbound I-40 on-ramp at Mile Marker 239, giving drivers more distance to accelerate and merge onto the interstate safely.

The 2026 Wilson County – Tennessee State Fair runs from August 13 through August 22, 2026. It’s taking place at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center (Wilson County Fairgrounds) at 945 East Baddour Parkway in Lebanon.
