Tod Dwight Southworth passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026 at the age of 63.
Tod was born on July 16, 1962 in Buffalo, Oklahoma, to Dwight and Kaye Southworth. On February 23, 1985, he married the love of his life, Betty Poff. Together, they shared 41 years of marriage, building a “rock solid” life centered on love, loyalty, hope, and an unwavering commitment to their family.
Tod is survived by his wife, Betty Southworth; his parents, Dwight and Kaye Southworth; his brother, Brent Southworth (Julie); his sister, Lori Morgan (Aaron); his son, Derek Southworth (Eve); his daughter, Summer Casebolt (Justin); and his cherished grandchildren, Carter and Sadie Southworth, and Liberty and Lincoln Casebolt. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives are richer because of his.
If you asked Tod what he did for a living, he might have told you about one of the businesses he built. But those who knew him best would tell you he was really in the business of investing – in ideas, in possibilities, and in his family. Tod was an entrepreneur with an adventurous spirit, a husband who loved deeply, a father who encouraged faithfully, and an adoring grandfather who somehow always had time for one more sporting event, one more bowl of ice cream, one more hug. He found joy beside a lake with a fishing pole in hand or standing around a meat smoker. He believed good food was meant to be shared and rarely missed an opportunity to gather his family around a table. His generosity wasn’t reserved for special occasions; it was simply the way he lived. His legacy isn’t measured by the businesses he built or the (often spontaneous) endeavors he pursued. His legacy is found in the people he believed in, the love he freely gave, and the family he treasured above all else.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 16 (Tod’s 64th birthday) at Providence Church in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m., followed by the service at 5:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you help celebrate Tod’s life and birthday in a way they know he would have loved – with words from your heart. If you are attending the service, please bring a birthday card with you (or choose one upon arrival) and fill it with a favorite memory, words of gratitude, or a special birthday message. If you are remembering Tod from afar, you’re invited to mail a card as well. These birthday wishes will become a treasured gift for his family.
