Joseph Gary “Joe” Fergusson, a member of the Lebanon community, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with brain cancer. He was 53.

Born on December 28, 1970, to Pat and Nancy Fergusson of Hartsville, Tennessee.

Joe grew up farming, hunting, and playing football. A proud graduate of Trousdale County High School in 1988, he furthered his education at Middle Tennessee State University, graduating in 1994. Upon graduation, Joe spent several years in medical sales, including his own device distributorship as well as working for Johnson & Johnson.

While at MTSU Joe met his wife, Leanne, and they married in July 1997. Joe and Leanne had two children, Cole and Anna. Joe loved his family more than anything; and he had more friends than he could count. A passionate sports enthusiast, Joe’s love for football and the Vols was unparalleled. For over two decades, he served as a referee with the North Central TSSAA, beginning each match with the Lord’s Prayer.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Pat Fergusson.

He is survived by his wife (Leanne) and children (Cole, Anna), mother Nancy, brothers Bill (Tonya) and John Pat (Teresa) Fergusson, sister-in-law Donna Odom, and in-laws Don and Mary Anne Odom.

Visitation will be held at The Bridge Fellowship, 5066 Lebanon Rd., Lebanon, TN, on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 4-8 pm. A service honoring Joe’s life will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 550 McMurry Blvd. E, Hartsville, TN, on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 1 PM, with visitation from 11:30 am-1 pm at Grace Baptist Church. Services will be followed by the burial at Friendship Cemetery in Hartsville, TN.

In his battle with cancer, Joe participated in a clinical trial and hoped that his fight could be used to help others in the future. He was a supporter of the American Brain Tumor Association and donations can be made in his honor on his webpage https://give.abta.org/fundraiser/5389870?is_new=true. Joe also loved the Lord and donations can be made in his honor to The Bridge Fellowship in Lebanon, TN.
