Eugene H. Sweeton, 83, of Watertown went to his eternal home on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
Family and friends will gather for a graveside service at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2021 at Hunter Memorial Park. There will be no public visitation prior to service.
E.H. was born Aug. 25, 1938 in Mt. Juliet, TN to Frazier and Beulah Sweeton. He was a 1957 graduate of Mt. Juliet High School and a member of the FFA. He married Bobbie Williamson Sweeton on Jan. 13, 1967. He served in the United States Navy 1957-1961. He worked as an electrician at Dupont in Old Hickory, TN from Feb. 8, 1965 until his retirement on Dec. 31, 1997.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Sheila Dickens of Lebanon.
E.H. is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Bobbie Sweeton and his children, Kim (Chris “Doc”) Murdock of Alexandria, Michelle (David) Simpson of Wartrace and Michael (Kelly) Sweeton of Watertown; stepdaughter, Cheryl (Tony) Ferrell; siblings, Joann Clark and Jimmy Sweeton both of Mt. Juliet; grandchildren, Tyler (Kaitlyn) Robertson, Haylee Simpson, Taylor Murdock, Lane (Dakota) Simpson, Nathan Sweeton, Bentley Sweeton, and several step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Campbell Robertson, Cohen Robertson, and Willow Simpson; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers, Tyler Robertson, Taylor Murdock, Nathan Sweeton, Bentley Sweeton, Mike Marks, and David Oliver.
Honorary pallbearers, Haylee Simpson and Karl “Brother” Bailey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or American Cancer Society in honor of his parents, Frazier and Beulah Sweeton.
