With the new school year starting next week, Wilson County School District is reminding students and families about their very important Zero Tolerance Policy that’s in effect at the State and District levels.

Any student who makes a threat of mass violence towards a school will be expelled for a full calendar year (after due process has occurred). The Director of Schools does have the authority to modify an expulsion on a case-by-case basis. An appeal process is in place as well.

This is a Category 5 (Maximum) offense within the Wilson County School district.

Families are encouraged to have meaningful conversations with their children about the importance of using words responsibly while at school, and on social media.

Furthermore, the district is stressing a critical school safety procedure. Under no circumstance should any side doors be propped open during normal school hours or extended care hours.
