A fiery tractor-trailer crash along Interstate 40 prompted a major emergency response and cleanup effort early Sunday morning near the county line.
According to the Mt. Juliet Fire Department, crews responded to a crash involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 40 after the vehicle struck the center median wall, causing significant damage before catching fire.
Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the blaze, protect the surrounding area and assist with patient care. Authorities said the intensity of the fire caused heavy damage to the tractor-trailer, with portions of the vehicle becoming fused to the roadway, creating a difficult and time-consuming cleanup operation.
Two people were transported from the scene.
