Wendell Joe Batey, age 61, formerly of Watertown, passed away on Saturday evening, Oct. 14, 2023 at his residence in Smithville.
Born April 8, 1962, he was the son of the late Billy Anderson Batey and Wilma Ray Bain Batey and was preceded in death by a brother, Dean Batey.
He was a 1981 graduate of Watertown High School and a former employee of Lochinvar.
Joe is survived by his children, Danielle Batey of Granville, Josh Batey of Smithville, Zachery Batey of Gordonsville, Brandy Batey of Smithville and their mother, Kathy Cooksey; grandchildren, Natalie Kilzer, Carly, Kenya and Jordan Batey; sister, Sissy Cozart of Statesville; brother, Billy Batey and his wife, Tracy of Watertown; sister-in-law, Cindee Batey; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023 at Hunter Funeral Home with Bro. David Haun officiating. Visitation 2-8 p.m. Monday and prior to services Tuesday. Interment will be at Hunter Memorial Park. https://www.hunterfuneral.com
