Roger Dale Copas Obit

Roger Dale Copas, 75, of Watertown, TN passed away Saturday, Apr. 5, 2024 at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital in Lebanon. He was born Feb. 14, 1950 in Barron County, KY and was the son of the late Adolphus “Doc” Copas and Mildred Catherine White Copas.

Roger was a 1968 graduate of Crawfordsville High School in Crewfordsville, IN, a US Navy veteran, retired truck driver, Wilson County school bus driver, auctioneer, rodeo clown, member of The Depot Junction liar’s table and an honoree on the Three Forks Market Wall of Fame.

He is survived by 3 sons: James Reed Copas and wife, Amanda of Watertown, Kenny Phillips and wife, Loretta of Scottsville, KY and Jon Mark Starks and wife, Sarah of Louisville, KY; daughter, Christy Phillips of Scottsville, KY; 5 grandchildren, Clayton Copas, Brooklyn Copas, Mackenzie Copas, Megan McClard and Amanda Gaddis; 4 great grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Along with these surviving family members are a whole host of friends, as Roger never met a stranger and lived to make people laugh. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters; Freda Crowe, Marjoria Cooper and Dorris Mings; a brother, Arnold Copas; and James Reed’s mother, Retha Copas.

Funeral services will be held at Noon Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Hunter Funeral Home with Bro. Kelvin Copas and Bro. David Daugherty officiating. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and prior to services on Thursday. Interment with military honors will follow at Hunter Memorial Park.
