Philip Louis Hereford, 81, of Nashville, passed away on the morning of June 15, 2026, following a rapid decline in health, with his daughter at his side.
Philip was born on November 18, 1944 in Birmingham AL to Louis Reese Hereford and Mary Ruth Keith-Hereford. His father Louis, an Army Air Corps Pilot, died in the European Theater of World War II when Philip was only 4 months old. Mary Ruth remarried later to Nicholas Tobin and Philip’s brothers John and Michael were born.
Philip’s early life was in New Market AL and Dania FL. He graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Degree in Computer Sciences. Philip and his family moved to Nashville TN in 1973 for employment opportunity.
Philip married Joyce Ann Hodges in the spring of 1963. Their children are Mary Lynne and Louis Ramond.
When Philip retired, he was the Manager of Data Processing at Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority.
Philip was a long-time member of Priest Lake Presbyterian Church in Nashville. Philip loved fishing and was a member of Senior Bass Club-Nashville TN. Philip was a long-time member of the Exchange Club of Donelson, Hermitage. He was club treasurer for almost 20 years.
Philip was a loving, son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and neighbor.
He was surrounded by a huge village of friends and will be greatly missed.
Philip is survived by his brothers John and Michael, daughter Mary Lynne, grandchildren Jacob, Orion, and Philip, great-granddaughter Ahrii LaMae. Philip joins his parents Louis and Mary Ruth, his wife of 57 years, Joyce Ann, his son Louis, and dog AG.
The Memorial Service is 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Priest Lake Presbyterian Church in Antioch TN. Lunch to follow in Fellowship Hall.
