Norvel Gene Atnip, a beloved member of the Lebanon community, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 10th, 2024, at the age of 85.
He is preceded in death by, George and Hester Durham Atnip, his brother Ronnie Atnip, his sisters Jewel Randalls, Helen Ragland and Georgia Matula.
Mr. Atnip is survived by his wife Christine Atnip and his children, daughter Tracy (Nina) Terrell, Jason (Karen) Atnip and Stepson Tony (Robin) Willard. Grandchildren Emily Rogers, Eleonore (Jordan) Atnip, Karleigh Atnip, Amelia Atnip, Jacob Barrett, Tyler Willard and Heath Willard.
Mr. Atnip was a devoted sportsman and a member of Webb Chapel Baptist Church, is survived by his sisters Jo Holt, Rose Davis, Margie Andrews, and Ramona (Dennis) Bowman; his brother-in-law Harold Ragland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
For many years, Gene served as the song leader at Webb Chapel Baptist Church. He was an avid sports fan, never missing an Atlanta Braves or Vanderbilt Commodores game. He continued to follow the Lebanon Blue Devils by tuning in to their Friday night football games on his old school transistor radio.
He cherished his family and his absence will be deeply felt.
