Born in Hamilton, OH, to Lucy Marie Brock McWhorter and George Junior McWhorter, Michael’s courage shone brightly as he served on the front lines of Vietnam for 1 ½ years with the United States Army. During this time, Mike earned several medals and badges, including two bronze stars, sharpshooter badge, and others.
His heart was full of joy, and he was at his best when he was helping others. He found happiness in spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, engaging in shooting and target practice, and embarking on family vacations.
Michael dedicated his career as a parts manager for 30+ years and a Maintenance Director, always striving to make a positive impact by helping people. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Carol Stanley McWhorter, his beloved daughter Erin (Nate) Mills, and their grandsons Chandler and Ethan Mills.
His siblings, Barbara (Don) Kocevar and Ronnie McWhorter, along with many cherished nieces and nephews, also mourn his passing. Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Marie and George McWhorter, and his brothers Eugene “Shorty,” Larry, and Roger McWhorter.
