Donna McGinnis Bonee' Lee Obit

Donna McGinnis Bonee’ Lee opened her eyes in the presence of Jesus Saturday, March 22, 2025. She was born in Dekalb County June 26th, 1939 to Maxine and Ewin McGinnis. With the death of her father at 5 yrs old, she was raised by Maxine and Bill Riley along with her only sister, Patsy McGinnis Burke Brown.

Donna was married to George Edison Bonee’ (deceased) for over 30 yrs and was a busy and loving mother of 5 children. She attended Falls Business College and worked as a property manager for years while tending to her family. She married Robert E. Lee and was blessed with his good nature and love for 18 yrs until his passing in 2003. She had the privilege of becoming a step mother to Roberts children: Eddie Lee (Kathey), Gregg Lee (Valerie), Tommy Lee (deceased) and many Lee grandchildren.

Donna loved her family and home. She taught her children to be kind, work hard, love one another, love animals, have manners, and love the Lord. She will be remembered for her quick wit, funny disposition and her caring heart. All that met her loved her, and she loved them. She was one of the funniest people you could ever meet. She will be missed more than words can describe. We love you Mom. You did a great job on this earth! You prayed for our salvation and with that you will see us all again!

Donna is preceded in death by her husband Robert E Lee: parents Maxine and Bill Riley, and Ewin McGinnis: daughter Rhonda Faye Bonee: grandson Joshua Todd Bonee’, and Harold Dean Suttle (son in law).

She is survived by her children: Tammie Bonee’ Resha-Suttle, Lesa Bonee’ (Yoli), George Bonee’ Jr. Chip (Rhonda), Darren Bonee’ (Holli). Grandchildren: Tiffany Resha Lucius (Brandon), Brandie Resha (Michael), Brittanie Resha, Caleb Bonee’, Brandon Bonee’, Zander Bonee’, Coltyn Bonee’, Ryder Bonee’, Paige Higgins Miller (Dyllan), Darin Higgins (Hailey). Special mention: William Lee. Great grandchildren: Rhett Lucius, Brody Bonee’, Calliope Higgins, Madison Higgins, Riley Miller, Sister Patsy Burke Brown (James) and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

A “CELEBRATION OF LIFE” will be conducted on Saturday, April 19th at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Baptist Church, 201 Belinda Pkwy, Mt. Juliet, TN 37122.
