Marjorie Carole Barnett, age 81, of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.
Carole was born in Cedartown, GA as the daughter of the late, W. Seaborn and Sara Hunt Barnett.
Along with being a daughter, she was also a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and caring nurse for many years. She was a member of Edgehill United Methodist Church where she worshiped with friends and chosen family.
Carole spent many years as a registered nurse and worked in home healthcare. She was also a certified florist and owned her own shop, servicing the local Mt. Juliet community. Eventually, she retired as a nurse from Centennial Parthenon Pavilion, an inpatient mental health care facility in Nashville, TN.
Carole loved caring for and arranging flowers, spending time outdoors, and those whom she was close with even refer to her as a “true tree hugger.”
She was a part of many groups such as book clubs, a Celtic drum circle, and spent much of her time reflecting at Penuel Ridge Retreat Center. Her adventurous nature meant that she never turned down the opportunity to try something new, including walking on fire. She was an avid reader with some of her favorite authors being Maya Angelou and Mary Oliver.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Chuck Worthington and Ashley Meers and her granddaughter, Sarah Meers.
She is survived by her children, Patrick (Amanda) Meers and Mitzi Keys, her grandchildren, Victoria Worthington, Kathryn Keys, and Riley Nolan-Meers, and great-granddaughter Nova Lynn Nolan-Meers. She is also survived by her adopted cat, Alice, and too many friends to mention each by name.
A Celebration of Life service was conducted at 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Edgehill United Methodist Church, 1502 Edgehill Avenue, Nashville, TN with John Feldhacker officiating.
