Loretta Lynne Schickel, 62, of Mt Juliet, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 17, 2026.

Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky to Ken and Judy Schickel, she moved to Florida, where she spent more than 25 years and raised her three sons as a single mother, shaping each of them into the men they are today. She had a gift for counseling and guiding each of her children in the way only she could, attuned to their unique personalities, circumstances, and lives. After her youngest left for college, she moved to Nashville, where she met and fell in love with Roger Randles, who preceded her in death.

She loved God deeply and trusted in His mysterious ways, always. On the last night of her life, her phone was open to a prayer devotional.

Diagnosed with heart failure 17 years ago, she endured that chapter with patience and grace. There was suffering, no doubt, but she never let it become the story. Through it all her sister was her constant companion and best friend, walking beside her every step of that final chapter. When illness set back her career as an insurance adjuster, she chose to learn new things instead, taking up digital photography and later crafting rosaries and jewelry.

She took far more joy in giving than receiving. Christmases were her masterpiece of generosity, and her grandchildren knew her love through countless packages in the mail. She was a doting grandmother to six, a loving mother-in-law, a steadfast daughter and sister, and a wonderful friend. She loved nothing more than time with her family, traveling to Boston, California, New Hampshire, Kentucky, and across Tennessee to be with them.

She is survived by her sons, John Jacob (Anna), Jeremiah Felix (Rebecca), Jared Kenneth (Tiffany); her mother Judy; her brothers, Chris, Ted, Terry, sister Leslie; her grandchildren: Maddie, Nolan, Henry, Wesley, Bennett, Michael; she was preceded in death by her father Ken, and brother Mark.

We love you, Mom.

Visitation will be held Thursday July 23, 2026 at St. Mary’s of the Knobs Catholic Church, 5719 St. Mary’s Rd, Floyds Knobs, IN 47119 from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m., with Mass to follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow.
