Mrs. Kathy Ann Swicegood departed this life at the age of 61 at 7:53 p.m. Thursday evening February 13, 2025 at the Highpoint Health – Sumner where she was admitted Tuesday evening February 11th from the Highpoint health – Riverview Medical Center E. R. in Carthage where she was initially transported from her Eastes Hollow Lane home with C. P. R. in progress.
Mrs. Swicegood is at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home and is scheduled to be cremated at Cumberland Family Services in Algood. The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a time and day to be announced.
She was born Kathy Ann Hamm in Franklin, Kentucky on December 9, 1963 and was the daughter of Dorothy Ann Summers Hamm Griffin and the late Loyd Oliver Hamm who died March 29, 1995 at the age of 56. She was preceded in death by her step-mother, Mrs. Frances Lucille Silcox Enoch Hamm on March 20, 2014 at the age of 80 and by a step-brother, Phillip Gordon “Potsie” Enoch who died at the age of 70 on November 4, 2020.
At their home on October 31, 1999, the wedding ceremony to Jimmy Joe Swicegood was performed by former Smith County Clerk, Jimmy Norris. Mrs. Swicegood was a hard worker all of her life and was currently an employee of B & B’s Bistro in Gordonsville at the time of her death. She was a non-denominational Christian and a recipient of her General Education Degree.
Surviving in addition to her husband Jimmy, of over twenty-five years and her Mother Dorothy is her husband Don, both of Marion, Ohio; three children, Cindy Thompson and husband Sam of Baxter, Stacey Dias and husband Seth of the Defeated Creek Community, Joey Crawford and friend Nichole Cummins, of the Plunketts Creek Community, six step-children, Keith Jenkins of Washington State, Terry Swicegood and wife Melanie, Joseph Woodard and wife Rachel all of Carthage, Sonya Thompson and husband John of the Elmwood Community, Kimberly Swicegood, Amber Plummer and husband Billy all of Carthage; siblings, Kay Lenzo and friend, Dewayne Cutlip of Ohio State, Kenneth Stratton and wife Shirley of Ohio, Kelton Hamm and friend Shelly Starks of Franklin, Kentucky, Keith Hamm and friend Deb Jones of Ohio; Sidney Enoch and wife Sharon of the Riddleton Community, Jimmy Enoch and wife Connie of the Elmwood Community; twenty-three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
