Josh Helton, a beloved member of the Mt. Juliet community, age 38, passed from this life into the arms of God on Monday, June 24th, 2024, in Miramar Beach, Florida.
He leaves behind children, Lily Helton, Campbell Helton, Crew Helton, and Rowe Helton; parents, David and Sherry Helton; brother, Dean Helton; aunts and uncles, Buddy (Anita) Helton, Mary Mays, Marty (Joseph) Irwin, Melanie Helton, and Tommy Buckner; fiancée, Kendre Dolan; mother of his children, (Lily, Campbell, and Crew), Courtney Helton; a host of family and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Olaf and Jeanne Helton and Thomas and Mary Sue Buckner; aunts, Margie Helton and Kim Bullock.
Joshua David Helton was born on Friday, January 31st, 1986, in Charleston, South Carolina.
Josh was born with the gift of athleticism. He loved all things sports! Golf, football, baseball, but basketball was his passion. A 2004 graduate of Mt. Juliet High School, Josh was a magnificent basketball player, earning All-State, All-District, and All-Region throughout his high school career. He went on to continue his education and basketball career at Trevecca Nazarene University, earning more hardware, claiming All-Conference and All-American.
His role over the years changed from playing on the court to coaching his children in any and everything they were involved in. Josh was a family man and nothing mattered more to him than his family, especially his daughter and sons. His children were the pride and joy of his life.
A God-fearing man and faithful member of Providence United Methodist Church, Josh was strong in his faith and made sure God was at the center of everything. Josh was a dedicated worker and was employed at H.E.S Facilities where he served as the Operations Manager.
His personality was like none other and his witty sense of humor could make anyone laugh. Josh’s legacy of love, compassion, and selflessness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him.
The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 13th, 2024 at 05:00 p.m. in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 12th from 05:00 p.m. – 08:00 p.m. and on Saturday, July 13th from 02:00 p.m. until service time at 05:00 p.m.
