Jason Timothy Locke of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, was born December 6, 1967, in Nashville Memorial Hospital. He went home to be with his Lord on January 24, 2025, passing away peacefully in his home after a brief, but valiant, battle with cancer.
With the exception of a brief residence in Smith County, Jason lived in Mount Juliet his entire life. He was educated at Mount Juliet Elementary and Junior High Schools and graduated from Mount Juliet High School in 1986 where he played football and excelled academically.
Upon graduation, Jason enlisted in the United States Marine Corps (Reserves) and graduated basic training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC, and subsequently served his country for two years as a reservist. In 1988, Jason married Kimberly Barkley of Old Hickory, TN, to whom he was married for thirty-six years, and was the proud father of two children, Courtney and Hunter.
Jason graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice from Middle Tennessee State University, all while simultaneously helping to raise his first child and working full-time as a night-shift Deputy with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office. This began a 30-year career in law enforcement, one in which Jason advanced steadily through the ranks of both county and state agencies. He was promoted to Detective, and later Detective Sergeant, with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, roles which allowed Jason to finely tune his incomparable investigative skills.
In 1997, Jason was hired by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation as a Field Agent assigned to Smith County, TN. He eventually relocated to the TBI’s Nashville office where he was soon promoted to Special Agent in Charge, Criminal Investigation Division for Middle Tennessee.
Along the way, he completed a master’s degree in leadership from Tennessee State University, and advanced to become TBI Deputy Director, a position he held until his retirement from law enforcement in 2018.
In recent years, Jason worked in security and compliance with Monogram Health of Brentwood, TN, and provided services as a consultant in security and compliance for Action Tennessee.
Outside of work, Jason was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and boating.
Jason was preceded in death by his father, James L. Locke, Jr. of Watertown, TN.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kimberly Barkley Locke of Mount Juliet, TN; and by his children, Courtney Lee Locke of Hermitage, TN, and Ryan Hunter Locke (Claire) of Murfreesboro, TN. Also survived by his mother, Jacqueline Locke Grogan (John) of Mount Juliet, TN; brothers James L. Locke III (Judy) of Pensacola, FL, and Jeremy P. Locke (Cindy) of Mount Juliet, TN; nieces Whitney Locke Brauneis (Derek), and Rebecca Ann Locke; and nephew Seth Andrew Locke (Anne); step-mother Helen Locke, and half-sisters Jenni Hill and Jessi Quintal (Mark) of Watertown, TN; and numerous other family and friends.
