With heavy hearts we share the passing of Buddy Brock, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and creative soul. Buddy passed away peacefully on January 24th, 2025, at the age of 72.

Buddy lived and traveled to many places in his lifetime, creating a vast network of people who loved and appreciated him. In 1990, Buddy and his family followed his dreams to Nashville, where he pursued his passion for writing as a staff songwriter for (Acuff Rose) Sony/ATV Music Publishing, Music Central Publishing, and Ray Batson Music. Buddy dedicated many years to crafting his skill as a songwriter. Some of his most notable cuts include songs recorded by Aaron Tippin, Tracy Byrd, Kenny Chesney, George Strait, Sammy Kershaw, and more. His creativity and passions extended well beyond his lyrics and storytelling.

He loved carpentry, sci-fi movies, tinkering on new projects, reading, and finding new gadgets to make our lives easier. If you met Buddy, it was sure to be a memorable experience, as his presence, humor, and stories added such value to everyone.

Born William Calhoun Brock Jr in Greenwood, South Carolina, he was preceded in death by his parents, Doris June and William Calhoun Brock, Sr, father-in-law, J O Alexander, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kelly and Mark Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Robyn Alexander Brock, daughter, Rebecca Dawn (Justin) McKinney, son, Caleb Reid (Amy) Brock, grandchildren, Meredith Eloise and Matthew Justin McKinney, Emma Jo and Hailey Reid Brock, and brother, Roger “Rody” Brock, mother in law, Elosie Alexander, sisters in law, Jaye (Conrad) Leo, Julie Sellars, Susan Alexander, and Amy (Michael) Farmer as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A service will be held on Saturday, February 1st, 2025, at Mt Juliet First Baptist Church, 735 N Mt Juliet Rd, Mt Juliet, TN with visitation from 1:00 – 3:00 prior to the service at 3:00. An additional Celebration of Life event will be planned at a later date.
