James (Jim) Benny ‘Pawpaw’ Lakin (1939 – 2023), Daddy drew his last breath Thursday, January 26, 2023 at home surrounded by his family.

Born September 8, 1939 in Knoxville, Tennessee to Thomas Jefferson Lakin and Euna Louise Fisher.

Being raised in East Tennessee, Daddy’s blood ran orange. He was a proud volunteer, supporting all Tennessee sports and Atlanta Braves baseball. His favorite words were “Its Football time in Tennessee”.

After a long career in the business world, achieving many accolades such as Tennessee Gentlemen and Kentucky Colonel, Daddy was able to fulfill his dream of becoming a fulltime farmer and cattleman. Lucky Star Angus Farm became Daddy’spassion and joy. Even in his last days, he loved telling stories about the farm, raising and showing cattle, and watching his grandkids grow up there.

Daddy was a man of the land; a master gardener, some of his happiest hours were spent in his garden and tending to his roses.

Preceded in death by his parents, wife Patricia McMillan, brothers Jack E. Lakin, William A. Lakin (Edie), sisters June Hicks (Glen), Brenda Wilkerson (Brudgy), and son-in-law Hazem Kaddoura.

Survived by his children, Lisa Slipkovich (Dan), Scott Lakin (Allison), Tammy Kaddoura(Clay), Missy MacLennan (Mike), and Bobbi Lakin-Brown (Mike), and sister Irene Nelson.
