Francis Foo Chan passed away Tuesday July 7, 2026 at the age 80 surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents George P. Chan, Sr and Margaret Chan and his brother George P. Chan, Jr and sister Ling Kanistanaux.
Francis was born in San Francisco, California on November 21, 1945. He worked as a licensed Architect for over 55 years. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Hilde Chan, children Christine (James) Holmes, Andrea (Kyle Lobpries) Chan, Natalie (Danny) Geren-Chan, and grandchildren Zander and Remington Lobpries, siblings Pauline (Will) Rogers and Marge Cox, one nephew Craig Chan and two nieces Melinda Wong and Leslie Palencia.
Francis was a gentle, patient and loving husband and father who had a wonderful sense of humor. He was deeply loved and respected by everyone that got to know him. A passionate tennis player, he also had a lifelong love of music and played several musical instruments. His favorite time of year was Christmas and he was passionate about decorating the house (one could see it from space)! Francis will always be remembered for his love of family and friends, his kind heart and gentle demeanor.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Del Webb Lake Providence Clubhouse on Saturday, August 29, 2026 between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. In keeping with Francis’ sense of humor, the family asks that those attending share anecdotal memories and wear colorful casual clothes.
