Eleanor Haines, age 86, known to many as “Chuckie,” passed away at her residence, surrounded by her family, on August 1, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Gladys Dimond; her sister, Lynn Mobley; and her grandchild, Samantha Hatfield.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charles Haines; her children, Christi Hatfield, Patrick (Diana) Haines, Jeffrey Haines, Kimberly (Matt) Huddleston, Kelly Daniel, and Holly Haines; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was a dedicated wife and mother, showing unconditional love and support to her husband and children throughout their lives. Eleanor was known for her love of cooking and gardening. Her artistic spirit shone through in her stained glass creations, and her dedication to literature and writing reflected her deep appreciation for words.
She enjoyed listening to music and never stopped learning, continually seeking new knowledge. An avid bird watcher and nature enthusiast, Eleanor was a devoted member of the Nature Conservancy, where her contributions made a lasting impact.
Visitation for Mrs. Eleanor Haines will be held on Tuesday, August 6, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 6 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 8, at 11 a.m. in the Rest Haven Memorial Park (1200 Sagamore Parkway North, Lafayette, IN 47904).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
