Donald Decker passed away on March 27th, 2025, after a battle with cancer. He is the son of the late Arthur and Ruby Decker.
Don dedicated 36 years to CSX Railroad, and that was to be a temporary job. Don was proud to be a member of the Masonic Lodge 642 and was a 32nd Degree in the Scottish Rite. Don served in the Army Aviation National Guard as a helicopter mechanic.
Don frequently dedicated his time, knowledge and equipment on Disaster Relief Mission trips and always felt that he received more from the trip than those he helped. He was officially “The Chainsaw Guy”, helping with down trees, limbs and debris after a storm.
Don was known as a daredevil from an early age. He was known to race his Cushman scooter all over Antioch at a young age. He quickly grew to full size motorcycles, and he took up skydiving. He recorded 366 jumps in his lifetime. He raced motorcross when he was younger and later in life, he took several cross-country trips on his Goldwing, including California, Sturgis and the Black Hills of South Dakota. He loved traveling with his wife and friends, nationally and internationally. Don was always up for a good time.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years Marilynn Thompson Decker, his son Donald Caldwell Decker Jr (Barbara) and his two granddaughters Linley Montgomery Decker and Caroline Caldwell Decker.
The service will be April 12, 2025, at Victory Baptist Church at 1777 Tate Lane, Mount Juliet, TN. Visitation at 2pm with service following at 3pm.
