David Jessie Buckholts, age 76, of Mt. Juliet, TN, fell asleep in the Lord on February 27, 2024 in the V.A. Hospital after years of battling with cancer.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. During his years of health struggles, he was supported by his loving wife, family, church family, friends and medical professionals.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, being received through Holy Chrismation on October 2, 2021 while in the hospital before a critical life-saving surgery.
David was a veteran of the United States Air Force, earning the rank of sergeant and serving in the Vietnam War.
David worked many years as an owner/butcher of Prestige Meats and Produce in Brentwood, TN and meat department manager for Winn Dixie and Publix. He enjoyed his work and really liked talking with his customers.
David was an avid outdoorsman and spent many of his days in the wilderness hunting and fishing with family and friends. He was a very skillful and passionate deer hunter, but also enjoyed turkey and dove hunting on occasions. He also loved to fish, especially trout fishing on the Caney Fork River, or when the opportunity arose, deep sea fishing.

Wife of 10 years – Christine “Chrissy” Nina (Burns) Buckholts
Sons – Charles “Chuck” David (Lisa) Buckholts, John Brian Buckholts and Paul Robert (Crystal) Buckholts
Step-daughter – Tiffany Marie (Clark) Paine
Grandchildren – Lila, Annelise, and Sebastian Buckholts
Step-grandchildren – Kaylin and Kemper Paine
He is preceded in death by:
Parents – Jessie and Ruth Buckholts
Brother – Thomas “Tommy” Buckholts
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Monday, March 4th, 2024, at Bond Memorial Chapel, 1098 Weston Drive, Mt. Juliet, TN 37122, (615)773-2663, where the Trisagion Service will be conducted at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 5th, 2024 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4905 Franklin Pike, Nashville, TN 37220 with Father Jarrod Russell officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at 1 p.m. at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens, 654 W. Division Street, Mt. Juliet, TN 37122. Chuck Buckholts, John Buckholts, Paul Buckholts, Bryan Noel, Mason Noel, Neil Cobb, and John Miller will serve as pallbearers.
