On Tuesday night’s first reading, the Lebanon City Council approved bids and awarded contracts for TDOT’s Grant for a sidewalk project along US 231 North to retain consulting engineering services.

The $1.2 million project is an 80/20 percent match, with TDOT providing the 80 percent.

“I appreciate TDOT’s grant and all the projects we continue to work with to improve infrastructure within the city limits of Lebanon,” Mayor Rick Bell stated Friday.

The sidewalk project phase 1 will run from Forrest Avenue to Oakdale Drive andis expected to begin by the end of this September. Phase 2 is in the design phase.

This new network of sidewalks, a result of TDOT’s grant, will significantly improve the mobility of our residents, especially those who walk to stores in these areas of the community.
