A man wanted nationwide by the FBI on an arson charge flagged as terroristic activity was arrested in Lebanon after the city’s SafeNet License Plate Reader system alerted police to his vehicle.
The Lebanon Police Department said the system identified a vehicle associated with the suspect Tuesday afternoon. Because the system does not continuously track a vehicle’s movements, officers searched a large area before locating the stolen vehicle traveling north on Highway 109.
Officers conducted a traffic stop and took the driver into custody without incident.
Police confirmed the man was wanted on a nationwide extradition warrant issued by the FBI’s Jacksonville office for an arson charge that had been flagged as terroristic activity.
No additional information about the suspect has been released.
