The City of Mt. Juliet fully reopened Adams Lane to the public on Monday, July 31.
This project will improve Adams Lane from a two-lane road to a three-lane road with a sidewalk for added walkable routes.
“We are thrilled to announce the reopening of Adams Lane, a pivotal milestone in our ambitious plans to revamp traffic flow through the Providence area and provide long-term relief for our residents,” James Maness, City of Mt. Juliet Mayor said. “The relocation of Adam Lane is a major prerequisite for the Central Pike Interchange, and I’m proud to say that not a single dime of taxpayer money was spent on this project. This achievement underscores our commitment to responsible fiscal management and a better future for our community.”
This reopening will also help alleviate traffic on the south side of town by providing a reliable alternative to bypass S. Mt. Juliet Road. This will also benefit the future Central Pike Interchange by not having a major connection too close to the future interstate.
“This realignment of Adams Lane was a crucial piece in making room for the future Central Pike Interchange at I-40,” Public Works Director Matt White said. “The previous roadway was a narrow, two-lane roadway that intersected Central Pike directly adjacent to the I-40 overpass. This new roadway is a wider and much safer roadway and provides an alternate route between S. Mt. Juliet Road and Central Pike.”
