UPDATE: March 5, 2024 – NTSB reported, via press conference, that two adults and three minor children were killed in the plane crash that occurred on March 4 in West Nashville.
Other facts revealed during the Tuesday press conference include that the plane was registered in Canada and originated from Ontario. The pilot then traveled to Erie, Pennsylvania, and then to Mt Sterling, Kentucky. The plane was headed to John C Tune Airport from Kentucky.
NTSB reports that the pilot passed over John C Tune airport at 2500 feet and made a U-turn before crashing.
The wreckage has been moved to Springfield, TN where the investigation will continue.
It will take 10 days before NTSB has a preliminary report. In 9-12 months, a full report will be released.

Original Story, March 4, 2024 – A single-engine airplane crashed in West Nashville, off I-40E, just past the Charlotte Pike exit, behind Costco on Monday night, March 4.
Several people were on board and all are deceased, said Don Aaron, spokesperson for Metro Nashville Police, in a press conference. MNPD later confirmed all five victims on board were killed in the crash.
Around 7:40pm Monday night, the control tower at John C Tune Airport received a message from an aircraft seeking emergency approval to land due to experiencing engine and power failure. Approval was granted but the pilot radioed that they would not make it.
According to audio gathered by WKRN from LiveATC.net, the unidentified pilot told air traffic controllers that his engine had turned off and he did not know where he was going to land. He later confirmed that the aircraft would not make it.
Witnesses told the Nashville Fire Department that the airplane imploded on impact and the Nashville Fire Department was met with heavy flames and fire when they arrived on the scene.
The FAA and the NTSB will be investigating this incident. At the time of this reporting, Metro Police did not have information on the pilot or the origins of the plane. This is a developing story.
