WSCO K-9 Responds to Lebanon High School After Second Firecracker Incident

School Resource Officers at Lebanon High School responded to a men’s restroom after sounds ricocheted through the hall of what appeared to be firecrackers on Tuesday, August 15.

While only being on the job for less than two days, K-9 Blaze was called upon for assistance to LHS in an effort to locate paraphernalia associated with the incident. A male student was observed on the school security cameras exiting the restroom area during the timeframe but denied involvement.

According to the report, SROs noticed an odor (commonly associated with firecrackers) upon arrival to the restroom as well as multiple pieces of firecracker wrapping paper on the floor area. Blaze, the newly assigned K-9 for the Lebanon Special School District under the care of SRO Dusty Burton, utilized his enhanced kinetic detection capabilities and made a positive alert on the student’s backpack in which a red firecracker was located inside a hidden pocket.

The student involved was issued a juvenile citation for ‘unlawful acts in the sale and handling of fireworks’ and ‘disorderly conduct’.
