Last night, officers responded to a residence on Cainsville Road regarding a deceased dog found in an outdoor kennel in the backyard of the property.
Upon arrival, officers located one deceased dog and four additional dogs in the backyard. Due to the circumstances, Animal Control Division was requested to respond to the scene.
During the preliminary investigation, it is believed the dog succumbed to the freezing temperatures. Officers and animal control personnel also found that the remaining dogs had no food or heat source available, and the water present was frozen.
66-year-old Angela Hall was charged with five counts of animal cruelty.
The four surviving dogs were signed over into the custody of the Animal Control Division. Animal control officers have begun the necessary process to assess the dogs’ health and behavior.
“With time, we are hopeful these dogs may be placed into loving, permanent homes.
This is a reminder of why it’s so important to remember your outdoor pets during the extremely cold temperatures we’ve experienced over the past several days,” Lebanon Police Department says.
This is an ongoing investigation, and all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
