The safety and security of fairgoers remains a top priority at the Wilson County-Tennessee State Fair. With this standard of uncompromised safety in mind, Wilson County Promotions and law enforcement officials have been working cohesively the last few years on additions and enhancements to existing protocols to provide the safest environment possible for all attendees.

Before exiting your parked vehicle, attendees are reminded to SECURE all doors and not to leave any valuables out that are visible to the public eye.

As you approach any of the gates for entry, high-frequency METAL DETECTORS will be positioned as a safety protocol. NO guns/weapons will be allowed on the premises.

To provide a safe, enjoyable environment for all attendees, the Wilson County-Tennessee State Fair is implementing a CLEAR BAG POLICY. This policy complies with a new level of security expected of large, heavily attended events and festivals. According to their website that can be found at www.wilsoncountytnstatefair.com, the clear bags that have been approved are listed as follows:

Approved Bags:
• Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags that do not exceed 12”x6”x12” – a logo no larger than 4.5”x3.4” can be displayed on one side of a permissible clear bag.
• One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)
• Small clutch bags no larger than 4.5”x6.5” – approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap.
• Medical necessary items (after proper inspection and tagging)
• Diaper bags accompanied with a baby (after proper inspection and tagging)
– All bags are subject to search by law enforcement while on the James E Ward Ag Center property.

Additionally, the unauthorized use of Drones (UAS) is strictly prohibited during the Wilson County-Tennessee State Fair. Citations will be issued to anyone caught violating this policy.

Parents who are accompanied by children are urged to take advantage of the photo booths located at each of the gates. This will enable workers/law enforcement officials to get a better description of a child should they get separated from their guardian. It’s important to always remain vigilant and stay in very close proximity with small children on any given night due to the high influx of fairgoers who are attending.

Attendees are also encouraged to take advantage of the satellite off-site parking to make your fair experience more enjoyable. Buses will be making trips from the following locations from 4 p.m.-11 p.m. (Monday-Friday) and from 12 p.m. – 11 p.m. on (Saturday-Sunday) at no charge:

• Cumberland University’s Football Parking Lot (old Lebanon High School), 415 Harding Drive, Lebanon (on northeast side of the old Lebanon High School)
• First Baptist Church & Wilson County Courthouse, 227 East Main Street, Lebanon

Buses will load and unload at each location.

As always, LPD will be doing traffic control, security checks throughout designated parking areas, and providing manpower at each of the gates upon entry into the fairgrounds. The WCSO will be providing manpower by showing a strong presence throughout the interior.
