These updated COVID-19 Safety Procedures and Protocols for the 2021-2022 school year were approved by the WCS Board of Education Tuesday night.

There’s three updates to make you aware of compared to the start of our school year. Here’s what changes will take place, effective Wednesday, August 25th.

1. Masks remain optional, however; if a school’s weekly attendance rate falls below 85%, then the school may move to “face coverings requested.” Staff and students would then be encouraged to wear face coverings.

2. The district will strongly recommend that asymptomatic close contacts quarantine pursuant to Tennessee Department of Health guidelines (Those who are symptomatic close contacts and positive COVID-19 cases will still quarantine/isolate pursuant to TDOH guidelines).

3. Symptom checks will be conducted once per week in grades 6-12 using standard questions recommended by the Tennessee Department of Health (Previously this included grades K-5).
