Wilson County Schools is excited to announce two new principals to our district.

Dr. Deante Alexander has been named principal at West Wilson Middle School and Dr. Mary Holland will take over principal duties at Elzie D. Patton Elementary.

WCS Names Two New Principals

Dr. Alexander has been an educator since 2009. Before coming to Wilson County Schools, Dr. Alexander served as the Freshman Academy Principal and an Academy Principal for the Academy of Engineering and Automotive Technology at Antioch High School in Metro Nashville Public Schools. Dr. Alexander became a Doctor of Education graduate from Union University in December 2021.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to build community and create a culture in which all students can engage in relevant learning and thrive at West Wilson Middle,” says Dr. Alexander. “I am proud to be a wildcat and continuing to make West Wilson strong.”

Dr. Alexander has a wife and two children “that mean the world to him” and when he’s away from administrative duties he enjoys staying active, reading, eating great food and traveling.

Dr. Holland arrives to Wilson County Schools after vast experience in school settings:  private, overseas, public, Title 1, affluent schools, diverse schools, EL schools and in elementary and middle school tiers. She has taught most all grade levels up to fifth grade. She received her undergraduate from Missouri Southern State University in teaching, and shortly after moved to Brazil. Her family left Brazil after ten years and resettled in the Nashville area. She earned her doctorate degree from Lipscomb University in Learning Organizations and Strategic Change.

“I’m excited to partner with EDP’s amazing staff, students, and families,” says Dr. Holland. “Elzie D. Patton has a reputation of community, strong partnerships, and family centeredness in and outside of the school. While growth impacts our schools, our demographics, and even our needs, it does not have to impact our excellence.”

When asked about her interests away from her professional life, she told us this:

“Well, I have two new puppies, so need I say more? I enjoy reading all types of books. I like to work out and I love to write. I enjoy family time with my three grown children and my husband and son. I have five little grandbabies whom I adore, and we spend lots of time with. And I’m a little obsessed with HGTV and remodeling projects!”

With the additions of Dr. Alexander and Dr. Holland, Director of Schools, Jeff Luttrell is thrilled to have them on board and ready  to lead their respective schools. He had this to say about both administrators.

“Dr. Alexander’s experience in being in leadership positions that he’s been in, along with his wonderful and energetic personality will be a huge asset. He has a contagious energy about him and we look forward to him applying that and helping to lead everyone in the West Wilson Middle community.”

“Dr. Holland is a career educator that’s been in various settings and a lot of different types of schools in different communities and lots of experience working with stakeholders in the communities and teachers. All of that made her a very strong candidate to lead Elzie D. Patton Elementary, and we’re excited to have her.”
