Sunday’s 2:40 p.m. two-vehicle collision at Thompson Lane and Southlake Drive has claimed the life of a 47-year-old Watertown man.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Jackson Hunter, 47, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck eastbound on Thompson Lane /Briley Parkway at a high rate of speed when he drove through a red light. The driver of a Honda Accord, traveling north on Southlake Drive, entered the intersection through a green light and was struck by the Silverado. The driver of the pickup was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. He died at the scene.
There was no evidence of impairment on the part of the driver of the Honda Accord. The driver and passenger of the Honda Accord were wearing seatbelts. The driver of the Accord was not injured and their passenger sustained only minor abrasions.
Toxicology testing will be conducted on the driver of the Chevrolet Silverado to determine whether impairment played a role in this fatal crash.
