June 23, 2024 – A 25-year-old Michigan woman wanted out of Kentucky was taken into custody in Mt. Juliet Tuesday afternoon after authorities say she attempted to return stolen merchandise from a Lowe’s store in an organized retail theft scheme.

Lowe’s regional loss prevention notified law enforcement after the suspect allegedly stole items from the retailer’s Cookeville location. License plate reader technology later tracked her vehicle to the Lebanon Lowe’s, where she tried unsuccessfully to return the merchandise. Loss prevention then alerted the Mt. Juliet store, anticipating it would be her next stop—and officers were ready.

Mt. Juliet Police responded immediately when she arrived and arrested her on site. A records check revealed the woman had multiple outstanding warrants from Bowling Green, Kentucky, where she had been wanted since December 2024. Charges included engaging in organized crime, two counts of receiving stolen property over $1,000, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, bail jumping, and failure to appear.

Police also learned she had an adult male accomplice who had been driving her between store locations. Officers used the #MJGuardianShield license plate reader system to locate the driver parked at a business near N. Mt. Juliet Road and Old Lebanon Dirt Road. That part of the investigation remains active.

Authorities praised the quick coordination between law enforcement, retail security, and technology that prevented additional thefts.
