August 16, 2024 – Two Wilson County schools were placed on a soft lockdown on Friday.

According to WCS’s Bob Barker, Gladeville Elementary and Gladeville Middle School were placed on a lockdown that was prompted by an investigation led by Wilson County deputies. The incident took place nearly two miles away from the schools on Stewarts Ferry Pike, east of I-840.

Soft lockdowns are when normal operations are taking place inside the school, however, no staff or students are allowed outside the schools and visitors are restricted from entering. WCS stated soft lockdowns don’t happen too often, but in the event it does, parents or guardians should not be alarmed as no direct threats are occurring on campus.

Friday’s soft lockdown has since been lifted.

“We sincerely appreciate the communication and awareness from local law enforcement when they recommend “Soft Lockdown “ procedures to be activated. It’s precautionary measures for added safety,” WCS stated on Facebook.
