A routine traffic stop in Mt. Juliet escalated into a brief manhunt Wednesday afternoon, ending with the arrest of a suspect wanted on multiple charges across three counties.
According to the Mt. Juliet Police Department, officers stopped a vehicle on Lebanon Road near Lookout Drive for a suspended registration and a seatbelt violation. The driver ran from the stop, prompting officers to quickly set up a perimeter and search a nearby neighborhood and wooded area.
The suspect, a 38-year-old man from Hermitage, was apprehended after a short search. Police said he was wanted in Davidson County for probation violations related to unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine, and evading arrest. He was also wanted in Williamson County for probation violations tied to possession of Schedule II drugs and theft, and in Wilson County for failure to appear on a driving on suspended charge.
Once in custody, officers determined the man was driving on a suspended license and found him in possession of fentanyl. He was arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail on charges including evading arrest, possession of a Schedule II drug, and driving on a suspended license.
