Nashville Sounds: Win 8-7
The Nashville Sounds had a dramatic finish last night as they came from behind to earn their 8-7 victory over the Charlotte Knights. In his first Triple-A appearance, hometown kid Ethan Small pitched 2.2 innings giving up 3 hits and 2 earned runs. He walked 5 batters but did manage to get a strikeout. It was not the ideal debut for him but when he exited it was still only a 2-run ball game.
It was a back-and-forth game from there on out. Every time the Sounds scored to make it close or tie it up, the Knights would rally back the next half-inning to retake the lead. They held a 7-5 lead heading into the bottom of the eighth inning. Weston Wilson hit his eighth home run of the season to knot things up 7-7.

Then, to follow that up, in the bottom of the ninth inning in a 2-2 count Jamie Westbrook hit a walk-off RBI single to propel the Sounds to victory.

Atlanta Braves: Loss 5-3
The Atlanta Braves took the field against the Cincinnati Reds last night. It was a night for the Reds though as they marched out rookie pitcher Tony Santillan who earned his first major league victory. He threw 6 innings and allowed only 1 run. He also got his first major league hit when he hit a double in the third inning. The Braves bullpen continued their struggles as Matzek came in for relief and managed to only get 2 outs on 21 pitches. The Braves were also forced to use SP Charlie Morton as a pinch hitter in the 5th inning. He struck out. The back-breaking play came when Castellanos of the Reds hit a 2-run home run in the bottom of the7th to take a 4-1 lead. The Braves did try and make a comeback with an Albies solo home run and Adrianza driving in a run on a single, however, they could not complete the comeback.
The Traveler’s Championship
Through 1 day of play, Kramer Hickok was your scoreboard leader as he shot -7. Defending champ Dustin Johnson sits at E through round 1 and needs a big day 2 if he wants to make the cut. Right now the projected cut-off is -1.
