Atlanta Braves: Win 5-3

        The Atlanta Braves squared off against the Nationals at home yesterday. The Braves got runs early and often as they led 3-0 after the first inning. Then in the second inning, Acuña Jr hit his 16th home run of the season putting Atlanta up 4-0. That was a much-needed run as the Nationals came back 2 innings later and the fourth put up 3 runs of their own. Atlanta put up an insurance run later in the sixth inning and held on to the win. Charlie Morton earned the victory on the mound with 5 innings pitched, 3 ERs, and 6 Ks in the game.

Cincinnati Reds: Win 11-1

       The Reds took on the Phillies at home yesterday, and they brought their offensive firepower back home with them. They scored 11 runs on 11 hits, including 2 home runs. Max Schrock was only a single shy of hitting for the cycle as he tallied 3 hits (a home run, triple and double) and 3 RBIs in the game. Wade Miley continued his success on the mound as he threw 6 innings, gave up only 1 ER, and struck out 6 batters.

Memphis Grizzlies: Lost 120-113

        The Grizzlies trailed in the series 2-1 before last night’s game in Memphis. After last night’s game, they trailed 3-1 in the series. The Grizzlies kept the game close but could not get enough to mount a comeback. The Beale Street Bears kept it close as they fell behind by only 3 points in the first quarter 34-31. The second quarter was much of the same as the Grizzlies put up 23 to the Jazz’ 25. At halftime, it was a 5-point deficit for Memphis. The game was still within reach at 59-54. However, the third quarter is what killed the Grizzlies. Utah came out and dominated the third quarter 41-33. Utah led by double digits heading into the final quarter of play. Memphis never gave up and pushed back winning the final quarter 26-20, but ultimately, they lost 120-113.

The Jazz shot 17-34 from 3-point land, while Memphis shot 10-35. The Grizzlies also made 17-20 free throws, while the Jazz made 25 of 28. Utah’s Mitchell was spectacular again with 30 points and 8 assists. Ja Morant scored 23 points while dishing out 12 assists, and grabbing 6 rebounds. The Grizzlies are on the brink of elimination as they head back to Utah for Game 5.
