The Cook’s UMC Chili Bowl is set to take place on Saturday, October 11th, 2025, at 4 pm at Cook’s United Methodist Church (7919 Lebanon Rd, Mount Juliet, Tennessee 37122).
A fun day with a chili cookoff and free dinner, pumpkin decorating, a make-your-own scarecrow workshop, and a cornhole tournament!
Here’s all the info!
CHILI COOK-OFF
● Competition Chili must be registered NO later than 10/9/2025; registration fee is $25 (non-refundable).
● Chili MUST be ready to serve at 4 pm on 10/11/2025; we suggest 2 gallons.
● Cook’s will provide a 4’ table, electricity for crockpot, 2-ounce tasting cups with spoons, napkins, a voting vessel, and an ingredients list display frame.
● Competitors must have an 8 ½ x 11 list of all ingredients for display on the table to aid those who may present with food allergies and provide proper serving vessels/utensils for any add-ons that you make available at your table.
● The space will open at 3 pm for decorating and set-up.
● Prizes will be awarded for Fan Favorite, Best Traditional, Best Non-Traditional, and Spiciest. A prize will also be awarded for Best Bedecked Booth.
● Only tasting amounts will be served until judging is completed; no chili may be sold to patrons from competition tables/vessels.

SCARECROW WORKSHOP
● Registration closes on Friday, October 9; please choose between the 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. workshop times.
● Registration fee is $5 per family and non-refundable. One scarecrow per family, no matter the number of participants.
● Individual/family is expected to bring clothes for the scarecrow (shirt and pants or overalls).
● All material other than clothes will be provided by Cook’s UMC.
● Children under 12 y.o. must be accompanied by an adult (18+)

CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT
● Registration before October 8 is $25 per two-person team, non-refundable. Registration
after October 8 is $35 per two-person team, non-refundable.
● We will use random seeding to start and will use a double-elimination format.
● You may register for Champion Level (27’ foul line to foul line) OR Junior Level (21’ foul line to foul line)
● Players 12 and under and/or special needs players must be accompanied by an adult (18+) per team, even if that adult is not playing
● Rules and other guidelines will be sent by email to registered participants prior to the day of the tournament

PUMPKIN DECORATING
● There is no registration fee for pumpkin decorating.
● 1 pumpkin per person
● Painters 12 y.o. and younger must be accompanied by an adult (18+).
