The S.H.I.E.L.D. Award (School Heroes in Education, Leadership, and Defense) was established this year by the SRO Sergeants to recognize School Resource Officers who consistently go above and beyond the call of duty in service to their schools and communities.
SRO Mark Gammons, who serves at Southside Elementary School, has been selected as the latest recipient of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Award from a group of four nominated deputies.
SRO Gammons is deeply committed to his students and the school community, routinely exceeding expectations by building positive relationships and recognizing students for their hard work, respect, and good character.
The S.H.I.E.L.D. Award is presented quarterly, with one overall recipient selected at the end of the year as SRO of the Year.
