Police patrolling Providence Marketplace Monday night spotted a vehicle illegally parked in a handicapped space outside HomeGoods with the engine running. Officers observed crack pipes on the dashboard and what appeared to be stolen merchandise inside the vehicle.
A short time later, a woman exited the store after a second trip inside and was found to be shoplifting additional items. Officers also discovered she was carrying a tool used to remove anti-theft devices.
The 55-year-old Nashville woman was arrested and charged with theft of merchandise, possession of crack cocaine, possession of burglary tools, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving on a revoked driver’s license.
Police say proactive patrols like this help prevent crime and keep Mt. Juliet among the safest communities in the area.
