Hockey is a lot to keep up with and if you’re a busy Middle Tennessean but are still a fan of the hometown Predators, we have your weekly Nashville Predators update with everything you need to know right here.

Last Week

March 21st, at 7-3 win at Buffalo Sabres

March 23rd, 2-1 win vs Seattle Kraken

March 25th, 2-7 loss vs Seattle Kraken

March 26th, 2-3 loss vs Toronto Maple Leafs

The highs and lows of a young team, like Nashville has, were very high and low this week. Matt Duchene’s hand injury hitting a roster already missing Josi, Forsberg, Johansen, Carrier and Parssinen is definitely disheartening but the potential future of these young Preds is anything but. Evangelista, Novak, Tomasino, Sherwood and Glass are all stepping up in big ways. Off the ice, the Nashville Predators unveiled their first ever player statue of Predators legend and former goaltender, Pekka Rinne, in The Bridgestone Arena plaza.

Coming off a 7-0 loss to the Rangers, Nashville needed a response and they got just that against the Sabres, scoring seven goals of their own and in impressive fashion. Picking up the sole road game of the week was a great way to start, but in reality it ended up being the peak of last week’s four game stretch.

Fueled by Saros’ 27 saves and a good performance all around in overtime, Nashville was able to start the week off 2-0. Then we began the drop on the roller coaster that was last week.

We have now gone all the way down the drop and have hit the bottom as former Predator, Eeli Tolvanen, who was traded earlier this season to the great chagrin of many Predators fans, scored twice in this one and was the first star of the game.

Nashville was able to avoid Calle Jarnkrok having a Tolvanen style “revenge game,” but still could not end the week on a win which is unfortunate as Nashville continues to fight to catch the Jets who are currently sitting in the final wildcard spot with 85 points.

This Week

March 28th, at 6:00 at Boston Bruins (NHLPP|ESPN+|Bally)

March 30th at 6:00 at Pittsburg Penguins (NHLPP|ESPN+|Bally)

April 1st, at 12:00 vs St. Louis Blues (NHLPP|Bally)

That’s not exactly the weekly schedule you want to see if you’re the Preds. We will see how the young guns handle it, but this week will be crucial to the playoff chances as Nashville tries to make up ground on Winnipeg.

The Predators are now 36-28-8 with 80 points. That is 5th in the Central Division, 10th in the Western Conference, and 18th in the NHL.
