According to the Mt. Juliet Police Department, the department’s Guardian Shield technology notified officers when the suspect’s vehicle entered the city from Nashville on Lebanon Road. Officers quickly located the vehicle near Mt. Juliet Road, confirmed the license plate and safely detained the driver in a nearby parking lot before he could reach what investigators believe was his next target — the Walgreens at Lebanon Road and Mt. Juliet Road.

Police identified the suspect as a 44-year-old California man.

Investigators said the man had been traveling through multiple states, primarily stealing large quantities of makeup from Walgreens and CVS stores. Officers recovered more than $5,000 worth of suspected stolen makeup from the vehicle, along with burglary tools and marijuana.

Mt. Juliet police said the investigation also linked the suspect to several active theft cases in other states, including multiple jurisdictions in Missouri. In several of those cases, investigators had identified the suspect vehicle but had not yet identified the driver. Police said the arrest in Mt. Juliet will help those agencies continue their investigations.

According to police, the suspect is a convicted felon with previous California convictions that include multiple robbery offenses and assault with a deadly weapon.
