Mayor Rick Bell proposed an ordinance limiting car washes in Lebanon through a zoning change. This change was unanimously approved on second reading, Tuesday, January 16, by the Lebanon City Council, with a 5-0 vote.

The council passed the ordinance on first reading on Tuesday, January 2. It was recommended by the Lebanon Planning Commission by a 9-0 vote at their meeting on December 18, 2023.

Ordinance No. 24-6927 now removes car washes for use in the CG-Commercial General District and adds them as a conditional use in the CO-Commercial Office District & Planned Business Development/Industrial Park District.

Moving car washes to CO-Commercial Office District & Planned Business Development/Industrial Park District will help the City of Lebanon identify possible car wash businesses and know their exact business intention.

While the City of Lebanon does not recruit car wash businesses, this zoning change will help reduce the potential for more car washes within the city limits.
