Willis Howard Mitchell, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully departed this life on April 3, 2024, in Livonia, Michigan, at the age of 92.
He was born on June 24, 1931, in Laguardo, Tennessee, to Adolph Mitchell and Ethel Sims.
Willis was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Evelyn, and his dear sister, Norma Ruth Johnson.
He is survived by his loving companion, Carol Sullivan, and his devoted children: Dale (Deborah), Gregory (Linda), and Derrick (Elaine). Willis was a doting grandfather to Ross, Quinn, Clark, and Shane.
Willis was known for his passion for life and his adventurous spirit. He found immense joy in his favorite pastimes, golfing, and traveling on cruises. His warm smile and zest for exploration brought happiness to all who knew him.
As we bid farewell to Willis, we celebrate the legacy of love and laughter he leaves behind. His kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
A visitation to celebrate Willis’s life will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the L.J. Griffin Funeral Home, located at 42600 Ford Road (West of Lilley Road) from 9:30 a.m. until the time of his funeral Service at 11:30 a.m.
On Monday, April 8th, 2024 at 1 p.m. there will be a graveside service held in the Wilson County Memorial Gardens.
