Weibena Hackett McKee, age 91 of Lebanon passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
Preceded in death by parents, William “Bill” and Jewell Smith Hackett; husband, James McKee; infant son, John Scott McKee; son, Jerry Miles McKee; brother, Oplis Hackett; sister, Spicy (Connie) Dozier; brothers-in-law, Frank (Faye) McKee and Alvin (Billie) McKee; sisters-in-law, Lucy Hackett, Margaret (M.L.) Kieffer, and Mary Frances (Durbon) Crain.
She is survived by daughter, Amy McKee Hamilton; grandchildren, Keela (Jordan) Johnson and Zia (Q’Lon) Maynard; great-grandsons, Zion, Zander, Zayden James, and Zeke Johnson; granddaughter, Zylah Maynard; brother, Kemmel Hackett; sister-in-law, Susie Hackett Pope; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.
Mrs. McKee was a member of College Hills Church of Christ. She was the owner of the Handi Market in Gordonsville for many years and helped her husband, James at their Amoco Service Station. She was an amazing cook that enjoyed perfecting family recipes, experimenting with bold new flavors, and teaching her granddaughters who called her “Memama” how to bake and cook. Cooking was not just a skill for her; it was her way of expressing love.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Partlow Funeral Chapel from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
The family wishes to thank Gentiva Hospice for their excellent care for many years and especially the last several weeks as her health declined.
