Virgil Paul Johnson, lovingly known by many as Paul, 76 of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, departed from his earthly life and joined Heaven’s angels on Friday, October 4th, 2024.

Born on Saturday, June 12th, 1948, in Nashville, Tennessee, the son of Herschel Johnson and Mildred Johnson, and the brother of James Johnson, all of whom preceded him in death.

Mr. Johnson took an oath to protect and serve our country, which he proudly did in the United States Army in the Vietnam War. Professionally, Paul was ambitious and dedicated, taking great pride in his career at Nashville Electric Service “NES”, where he retired after 40 years.

Beyond his professional life, Mr. Johnson was a longstanding member of First Baptist Church Mt. Juliet. Paul had a heart of gold like none other that would help anyone in need. His personality was one that could be noted as witty and intelligent. He was a leader and had a way of making a lasting impression on anyone he would come in contact with, leaving you feeling joyful, happy, and blessed to have met him.

Mr. Johnson had many talents and hobbies, mostly including cars of some sort. He enjoyed restoring antique hot rod cars and traveling to car shows. His biggest passion of all was ensuring his girls were taken care of, and being a rockstar of a Daddy and Paw Paw to each. God, family, and country were the three most important things to him.

He is survived by daughter, Missy Briney; granddaughters, Krista Briney and Morgan Briney (fiancé, Chandler Rich); brother, Carl (Nancy) Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service, conducted by Bro. Billie Friel, will be held in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet on Thursday, October 10th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.
