It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved member of the Mt. Juliet community, Victor E. Chester, affectionately known by many as Vic, who passed away on Tuesday, November 12th, 2024, at the age of 71.

Born in Nashville, Tennessee, on Sunday, August 30th, 1953, he was the son of the late Clifton and Mildred Chester.

Vic was a remarkable man who touched the lives of many. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, a cherished grandfather, and a loyal friend to countless people through his career in IT. He was a highly intelligent individual with a vast array of skills and talents ranging from builder to carpenter to electrician, truly a jack of all trades.

Mr. Chester embodied a multifaced spirit. He was diligent and exceptionally well educated, earning his bachelor’s degree from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. He took great interest in history, but especially the history of The Holy Bible. Beyond his professional life, Vic was a good Christian man and a former longstanding member of Hermitage Church of Christ.

Vic proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Kathy, to their cabin in Pigeon Forge, but he always wanted to get back home to where his heart truly was- his family. Being “Pop Pop” to his grandbabies was his greatest accomplishment and his biggest passion of all was ensuring his family was taken care of. Family meant everything to him and he never failed to let those he held dear know how much they meant to him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Susan Leonard.

He is survived by loving wife of 49 years, Kathy Chester; sons, Shannon (Laci) Chester and Dustin (Ashley) Chester; grandchildren, Lilli, Grant, Christian, George, Eleanor, and Bennett; siblings, Teresa (Gary) Hampton, Joe (Rebecca) Chester, Jenny (Gene) Hannah, Pam (Hank) Hudson, and Jeremy (Marty) Chester; sister-in-law, Jill (Donald) Herring; a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Although our hearts are broken without his presence, we know he fought the good fight and now he’s won his race, resting in the arms of Jesus. Vic’s legacy will continue to live forever in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him.

The Funeral Service, conducted by Patrick Hays and Jeremy Felker, will be held in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet on Friday, November 15th, 2024, at 01:00 p.m. Interment with full Military Honors will follow the service in Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens with Elijah Brown, Craig Woosley, Adam Cates, Patrick Hays, Matthew Chapman, and Bill Kane serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 15th from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 01:00 p.m.
