Stephen G. Shelton was born on May 16, 1939 in Lebanon, Tn to the late William Logue and Annie L. Davis Shelton. He passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at his residence. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant brother, Billy and brother, Bobby Shelton and sister, Faye Shelton Murray.
He is survived by wife of 68 years, Jennie Mathis Shelton; son, Tony (Sue) Shelton; daughter, Vicki Shelton DeSimone; and son, Troy (Vicki) Shelton; grandsons, Dusty (Rachel) DeSimone and Ethan Parker Shelton; granddaughter, Dara (Keith) Nelson; great grandchildren, Kaytlen DeSimone, Sophie DeSimone, Asher DeSimone, Ellie DeSimone, Harper Nelson and Brantley Parker Shelton; half siblings, Will Shelton and Dee Shelton; brother and sister-in-law, James & Peggy Parkerson; and sister-law-, Billie Shelton.
Steve was a member of Barton’s Creek Baptist Church where he was saved as a child. He was first a Christian and family man, who greatly loved and cherished his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, and all his family members. Steve’s hobby was singing and playing his guitar. He loved to sing and entertain his family and friends. For many years, Steve entertained people all across the state. He also loved to be a part of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s sports and school activities.
By trade, Steve was a “Tool and Die Maker” for 40 years, having worked for Loh’s Tool Shop and Precision Tool & Die.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Partlow Funeral Chapel, Lebanon, TN with funeral services at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in the Barton’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 1530 Barton’s Creek Rd., Lebanon, TN 37090. Bro. Dusty DeSimone will officiate the service.
Pallbearers will be Ethan Shelton, Mike Shelton, Chris Shelton, Keith Nelson, Jason Parkerson, Chad Mathis, Ralph Gaddis, Floyd Gaddis, and Billy Batey. Honorary pallbearers, Kaytlen DeSimone, Asher DeSimone, Sophie DeSimone, Harper Nelson, Ellie DeSimone, Brantley Parker Shelton, Tex Barthel, Don Hayes, Bro. Charles McKnight, Bro Terry Cathey, fellow workmates from Loh’s Tool & Die and Precision Tool & Die, and the shut in committee from Barton’s Creek Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Barton’s Creek Cemetery fund. The family would like to give a special thanks to Annette Johnson, Lisa Bell & Lisa Galloway for their great care of Steve. Also to Gentiva Hospice and their special nurses, Summer, Miranda, Erin Crutchfield and Hailey and also other nurses that always came when needed. An extra thanks to Summer Crook that made things so much easier for the family and took such great care of him. And thank you to great neighbors, Shannon & Joey Cooper that came anytime day or night if needed.
